Social Media Fundraising Ideas

When it comes to running your Big Hearted Canvas fundraising program, it's important to know you're not alone.

We're here to support you every step of the way.

Below you'll find some tips and resources to get you started - lots of different ideas on how you can promote your fundraising activities plus a wonderful collection of downloadable resources.

Good luck!

1. Promote On Social Media

Share a promotional image to social media with a clear call to action and a description of where the funds go.

2. Set Up A Big Hearted Canvas Fundraising Facebook Event

Set up a special Big Hearted Canvas Facebook event - a set day where you encourage your supporters to shop online for canvas prints.

Give plenty of notice (e.g. 1 month’s time) and invite people in your network along to the online-only event.

Encourage them to invite their friends and so on.

Post regularly on the event page in the lead up to the event, providing different ideas on what your supporters might like to print to canvas.

3. Feature The Fundraiser In Your Organisation's E-newsletter

Include a feature about your Big Hearted Canvas fundraiser in your next e-newsletter.

You might even like to dedicate a special edition e-newsletter that focuses on the fundraiser, including ideas on what kinds of photos your supporters might like to print to canvas and plenty of stories on how the funds will be used.

4. Attach The Fundraiser To A Special Or Seasonal Event

Promote your canvas fundraiser during special gift-giving periods like Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Valentine’s Day.

Attaching your Big Hearted Canvas fundraising to a special event is a wonderful way to raise funds during periods when people are actively searching for gifts.

Promoting them during each of our four seasons - using seasonal images - is also a great opportunity for people to treat themselves to glorious family and holiday photos printed on canvas.

6. Blog About It

Write an article on your blog, post it to social media and encourage your supporters, staff and volunteers to share it to their friends and family.

7. Run A Big Hearted Canvas Action Month

Encourage your supporters to call, text, email and message their friends - telling them all about the Big Hearted Canvas program.

Write a media release about the fundraising program and send it to your local newspaper, school newsletter or community magazine.

Ask your supporters to ask their workplace to include a story in their next staff newsletter.

9. Post On Facebook Groups

Post the fundraiser on local community Facebook groups.

Find places online where those in your local community hang out.

If you are a national or state-based charity, find communities online of those who are passionate about your cause.

Promote your fundraiser to them. Use an image to attract attention.

With Facebook Groups, be sure to read the rules of the group prior to posting.

10. Take Care When Posting Your Unique URL

When you post your unique URL onto Facebook, 5 image options will appear.

Before publishing the post, rather than posting all five images, select only one of them - your favourite!

11. Experiment With Your Own Marketing

You know your field better than anyone. You're the expert, so be sure to tug at heart strings to raise funds.

Use Canva to create branded, tailored images and messages your supporters will love.

Then post these images to social media, letting your supporters know they can help your cause by purchasing a beautiful canvas.

Just be sure to include your unique URL in all your communications.
